I LOVEE MIT.

I was just scanning through MIT's blogs (which is a time-monger, foshizzle. Yes, the life of other geeks -is- enrapturing.) and I found this site: Greg!s Lab.

YES. CLICK ON IT you know you want to. You can CONTROL the lights/air/etc. in this guy's lab right from this website your own house! Really really. There's a camera which takes a picture of his lab every twenty seconds and everything, so go see.

I'm a poseur.

I recently found Violin Masterclass online. I was looking through all the master classes, and I realized just how much I still had to learn. The level that those people play at is so sickening, yet so awesome. It's gnarly.

Really. Anyone who can play Kreutzer no. 13 by only moving his fingers is awesome. I didn't even know that I had to actually -move- my fingers before I started violin lessons in high school. And it took me a year to become decent at it. Looks like I need another couple of ages before I can do this.

Well, it really won't take me -ages-. But it does take a while to perfect your skills... at anything, really. I'm pretty sure there's no virtuoso who didn't go through years of practice before getting to where she is currently at. It doesn't come naturally. Natural talent is a lie, because it's only really present in the people who foster their talents (and in savants... of course). If people can draw still-lifes more realistically than others, it's because they've worked on their skills of perception, proportion, etc. since the very beginning. Granted, some people may absorb knowledge faster than others, but anyone can learn anything if they really desire to. All it takes is a will. And then, patience.

So, I should be going back to my violin now.
(Or the BL Murphy Scholarship, which I have 30 minutes left to complete.)
